About Curt Fargo

Helping Families Bring Their Pets Home

When someone's pet goes missing, they're not looking for someone with a drone.

They're looking for someone who understands what they're going through.

Northern California Lost Pet was founded by Curt Fargo to combine modern search technology with proven search techniques and compassionate guidance for families experiencing one of the most stressful moments they may ever face.

Every search is approached with professionalism, honesty, and the understanding that every missing pet is a beloved member of someone's family.

A Lifetime of Search and Rescue Experience

Curt has spent decades involved in emergency services, aviation, and search operations.

His background includes service in public safety, aviation, search and rescue, and drone operations, providing experience that few lost pet recovery specialists can offer.

Today, he serves as:

  • Chief Pilot for the Solano County Sheriff's Office Drone Team
  • Drone pilot and instructor supporting multiple public safety agencies
  • Search and Rescue volunteer
  • FAA Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot
  • Commercial pilot (airplane and helicopter)

That experience has taught one important lesson:

Technology is only valuable when it's paired with sound search strategy.

Why Lost Pet Recovery?

Curt's passion isn't simply flying drones.

It's helping families through one of the worst days they may ever experience.

Over the years, he has seen the heartbreak, uncertainty, and desperation that accompany a missing pet. He has also seen how a calm, methodical approach—and the right tools used at the right time—can dramatically improve the chances of a successful recovery.

That experience inspired the creation of Northern California Lost Pet.

The mission has always been bigger than offering drone searches.

It is about helping pet owners prepare before a pet is ever lost, educating families about effective recovery strategies, and providing professional search assistance when it is likely to make a difference.

Using Technology That Makes a Difference

Professional thermal drones have transformed the way searches can be conducted, especially during the hours of darkness when many missing pets are most active.

Curt combines thermal imaging with mapping technology, GPS tools, trail cameras, search planning, and years of operational experience to help locate missing pets.

Just as importantly, he knows when these tools are—and are not—the right choice.

Sometimes the best advice is that a drone search isn't appropriate yet.

Families deserve honest recommendations, not unnecessary expenses.

Education Is Part of Every Mission

One of Curt's goals is to help reduce the number of pets that become lost in the first place.

That's why Northern California Lost Pet provides free educational resources covering topics such as:

  • Lost pet prevention
  • GPS tracking devices
  • Microchips and identification
  • Recovery checklists
  • Scam awareness
  • Search strategies for dogs, cats, and livestock

If even one family avoids losing a pet because of this information, the mission has already been successful.

Integrity Above Everything

Every family deserves honest expectations.

No professional can guarantee a successful recovery.

Weather, terrain, time, animal behavior, and countless other factors influence every search.

Curt believes families should receive truthful information—not false hope.

If he believes another approach offers a better chance of success than a drone search, he'll say so.

His goal is never to sell a flight.

His goal is to help reunite families with their pets whenever possible.

Beyond Lost Pets

Curt's experience extends well beyond lost pet recovery.

He has spent years supporting public safety agencies with drone operations, search and rescue missions, emergency response, and training. That operational background influences every pet search by bringing structured planning, safety, and disciplined decision-making to situations that are often emotionally overwhelming.

While every missing pet is unique, the principles of organized searching, evidence-based decision-making, and careful coordination remain the same.

A Personal Commitment

When you contact Northern California Lost Pet, you're not calling a large company or a dispatch center.

You're speaking directly with Curt.

Whether you need advice over the phone, help developing a search plan, or professional search services, you'll receive honest guidance based on experience—not pressure to purchase services.

Every conversation begins with the same question:

"What gives this pet the best chance of coming home?"

That question guides every recommendation, every search, and every decision.

Our Promise

We can't promise every search will end with a reunion.

We can promise that every family will be treated with compassion, honesty, and respect—and that every recommendation we make is intended to give your pet the best possible chance of coming home.
